Surely he has

Isaiah 53:3-5 KJV
[3] He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. [4] Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Someone I love was bitten by ants. I am praying for this person while I search the internet for remedies. This painful, episodic grief leads me to ponder what happens each time Jesus miraculously heals someone.

Most of us would prefer to think his unstoppable divine power pours out over the sufferer, which is true…but not all.

He thoroughly and completely absorbs the pain, the grief, the horror of human afflictions in a way that is both unspeakable and necessary.

He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows.

He is the Remedy.

Matthew 8:14-17 KJV
[14] And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. [15] And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. [16] When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: [17] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
